DLTK's Holiday Activities for Kids
Handprint Lilies

Age 5+ can do this project pretty much solo (you may want to help them form cones from the handprints, depending on how crafty they are).  Any age from baby on up can contribute handprints for the project.

Materials:

bulletconstruction paper  (green for leaves and a flower color)
bulletstraw
bulletscissors
bulletpencil
bulletscotch tape
  
bulletOPTIONAL:  pipecleaner
  

Sunday School suggestion:

This isn't just a lily as you can plainly see.
I made it with my hand which God made a part of me.
It comes with lots of love especially to say,
I hope you have a very, special Mother’s Day!

if doing it with a secular group (school, etc) substitute "which is a part of me"  for "which God made a part of me"

If doing it for Easter, substitute "special Easter Day" for "special Mother's Day"

Instructions:

bullettrace child's hand onto a piece of construction paper, rounding out the palm
  
bulletcut out the handprint

bulletroll the palm into a cone and tape.  Don't worry about the hole being too small, we can snip it open a bit if needed.
   

bulletCut pipecleaner into 1/4s.  
  
bulletFold into a V shape
  
bulletPush V into end of straw and put a piece of tape around.
  
bulletCurl a bit.

bulletPut end of straw into flower and push through so the pipecleaner is inside the flower.
  
bulletWrap each finger around a pencil to curl.

bulletCut a long leaf shape out of green construction paper and tape onto the straw.  Curl the leaf like you did the fingers.
  
bulletWe put two leaves on each stem.
  
bulletAn odd number of flowers always seem to look nicer in a vase.
