DLTK's Crafts for Kids Valentine's Day Cups
Two versions of the same basic craft:
(see below instructions for templates)

Materials:
- styrofoam or paper cup
- tinfoil
- popsicle stick or straw
- paper
- scissors
- glue
|
Instructions:
- cover cup with tinfoil
- poke a hole in the top of the cup with scissors or a sharpened
pencil
- cut a heart out of pink paper
- cut two leaves out of green paper
- draw a face on the heart
- glue or tape the heart to the top of the popsicle stick
or straw
- poke the straw/popsicle stick through the cup
- glue or tape the leaves onto the popsicle stick

Materials:
- styrofoam or paper cup
- tinfoil
- popsicle stick or straw
- paper
- scissors
- glue
- red paint
- optional: green tissue paper

Instructions:
- cover cup with tinfoil
- cut a heart out of pink paper
- using red paint, make thumbprints on the heart
- glue or tape the heart to the top of the popsicle stick
or straw
- fill the cup with green tissue paper
- put the popsicle stick/straw in the cup full of green tissue
paper
- OPTIONAL: Make a second heart flower
or attach
a second heart to the front of the cup with a paper clip
with the message:
Thumbody Loves You! It's Me(Us)! Love _____

I'm providing templates (because I always try to provide templates),
but in this case, I think it's great for the kids to trace and make their
own hearts. You can use a cookie cutter or make a cardboard tracer
OR you can teach the children how to fold a piece of paper in half to make
a symmetrical heart.
Template 1: 2 blank hearts
