National Safety Month is celebrated in the United States each June. This holiday is relatively new and was started by the National Safety Council in 1996. The goal of the month-long holiday is to raise awareness for the different safety risks that people are exposed to at work, school, home, etc. and promote different safety and prevention strategies to help avoid accidents.
When organizations and commuities participate in National Safety Month, they will often cover a variety of topics over the month that are of interest to their community. There are lots of topics that can fall under the category of safety such as Safe Driving, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) Training, Wellness, Falls, etc. Another way of celebrating National Safety Month is to participate in different safety courses such as First Aid and CPR courses.
Crafting is a great way to get young children involved in safety month and it is one way to begin teaching them the importance of safety and risk management. So below we've included some different safety-themed crafts to help you celebrate National Safety Month during June!
