Canadian Children's Book Week - 1st Full Week of May

We celebrate Canadian Children's Book Week during the first full week (Sunday to Saturday) of May. The Canadian Children's Book Centre has organized the countries very own Children's Book Week wherelibrarians, teachers, bookstores, community centers, caregivers and more put efforts into spreading the magic of reading to children all over the country! This is a fun and important holiday because it gives us a chance to celebrate books for children and also appreciate how wonderful it is to read! Learning to read is no small feat at all, so this weeklong celebration i a special way to recognize the hard work that children put into reading! I still remember the cover the first chapter book I read when I was a kid, it felt like such an accomplishment!
There are lots of ways to celebrate Children's Book Week, the obvious option being to read! We have lots of classic stories (from Little Red Riding Hood to Romeo and Juliet) for kids to read along with printables and activities to go along with the reading. These can also be great tools for teachers who want to create a special reading lesson plan to celebrate Children's Book Week. We also have some reading related crafts, like bookmarks, down below to help children celebrate the week with some fun and creative activities!
