DLTK's Holiday Crafts for Kids
Candy Corn Paper Craft

Paper crafts make terrific and simple Halloween decorations that even toddlers can help put together.  For beginner scissor users, allow them to cut out the simple pieces like the body pieces and nose while you cut out the more complicated pieces like the arms and legs.

There are options for a smaller craft (a single page has all the pieces) and a larger version -- it takes more paper but my girls like BIG crafts as decorations *grin*.

INSTRUCTIONS:

bulletPrint out the template of choice (there's a small version and a larger version).

bulletColour pieces, as necessary.

bulletCut out the pieces.  This step may require adult assistance.  I usually let young children cut out the large pieces (like template 1 and 2) and I cut out the smaller pieces

bulletGlue Mr. Candy Corn together as follows:
bulletglue body sections onto the large body piece (yellow on the bottom, then orange, then white on top)
bulletglue the face onto the body -- note: instead of the template pieces, you could use wiggly eyes, a pom pom nose and marker mouth
bulletglue the legs under the body
bulletglue the arms onto the side of the body

bulletALTERNATIVE ASSEMBLY - moveable limbs:
bulletglue the body (template 1) and the arms and legs (template 3) onto thin cardboard before cutting them out
bulletglue body sections onto the large body piece (yellow on the bottom, then orange, then white on top)
bulletglue the face onto the body -- note: instead of the template pieces, you could use wiggly eyes, a pom pom nose and marker mouth
bulletpunch a hole in each of the arms and legs with a hole punch.
bulletpunch a hole through the body where the arms and legs would be attached (shoulders and bottom of the shirt)
bulletput the brass tacks through the limbs and the body so that the limbs are moveable.

Templates:

bulletClose the template window after printing to return to this screen.

bulletSet page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
