Autumn Branch Paper Craft

This is an easy cut and paste paper craft for young children to assemble during the autumn.

The craft works well for a "S is for Squirrel" or "A is for Acorn" alphabet lesson.

This is also a good craft for the number two as there are two squirrels, two tails, two acorns and two leaves.

Print out the template of choice.
If you have chosen the black and white version of the craft, color the template pieces.
Carefully cut out the template pieces. This is a good scissor skills practice craft.
Glue the autumn branch together; optionally, you can glue all the pieces onto a blue construction paper background:
- Glue the tails onto squirrels. (so the body sits over top of the tail)
- Glue the acorn into the hands of the squirrels (so it looks like they are each holding one side of the nut). You could also give each squirrel its own acorn if you're worried they won't want to share.
- Glue the squirrels onto the branch.
- Glue the leaves onto the branch. You can put one of the acorns with the leaves.
- Refer to the image at the top of this instruction page if you get stuck.
Note: The children might not assemble the project exactly the way I envisioned it -- especially the acorn placement. That's ok!! Let them put the pieces together in whatever way inspires them.
Optional: If using a blue background, you can decorate further with cotton ball clouds and more leaves. You could even add real autumn leaves from outside if you like.

After printing, close the template window to return to the main page.
