Winter Branch Paper Craft

This is an easy cut and paste paper craft for young children to assemble during the winter.

The craft works well for an "O is for Owl" alphabet lesson.

Print out the template of choice.
If you have chosen the black and white version of the craft, color the template pieces.
Carefully cut out the template pieces. This is a good scissor skills practice craft.
Glue the winter branch together; optionally, you can glue all the pieces onto a blue construction paper background:
- Glue the wing onto the body.
- Glue the head onto the body.
- Glue the eyes onto the head.
- Glue the owl onto the branch.
- Optional: Glue torn up pieces of cotton balls onto the branch.
- Refer to the image at the top of this instruction page if you get stuck.
Optional: If using a blue background, you can decorate further with cotton ball clouds. You can also "splatter paint" the background with white paint so it looks like it's snowing.
How to splatter paint:
- Wear old clothes and cover your work area with newspaper (or you can do your project in a paper box lid to reduce the mess).
- Use liquidy white paint (tempra paint is the most likely to wash up if it gets messy)
- Dip a paintbrush or old toothbrush in the paint.
- Flick the paint onto the paper (you can use a bamboo skewer and run it over the bristles to flick the paint or you can just shake the brush).
- Let the paint dry before gluing the owl and branch to the background.

After printing, close the template window to return to the main page.
If the template doesn’t fit on one page, adjust your printer margins:
