Mouse Finger Puppet

This is a craft I do at Christmas with my storytimes when I read "Twas the Night Before
Christmas" -- this is the 'quiet as a
MOUSE"..... It makes a mouse 'finger puppet.
A note from Leanne (the mom who runs DLTK's
Crafts for Kids): this would also make a great craft for a
number of other mouse-y rhymes or tales, like the City Mouse and the
Country Mouse, Pussycat Pussycat Where Have You
Been, Three Blind Mice or
Hickory Dickory Dock |

Materials
- 1/4 piece of grey or brown construction paper (or white paper colored or
painted)
- 2 pink construction paper circles
- 2 paper reinforcements or wiggly eyes
- a tiny black or pink pompom (or bead or you can use marker to draw on a
nose)
- a 6" or so piece of black yarn
- holepunch
- scissors,
- glue or gluestick.
Instructions:
- Fold the 1/4 sheet of paper in half again so you have a piece about the size of a index card.
- Turn the fold toward your stomach & draw a curving line from the left corner (this is the nose) to the right
side about 2.5" up from the fold.
- Do not unfold the paper, but cut on the curved line.
- Now glue the curved sides together.
- The straight side should be left open (this is for your finger to go
in).
- Punch a hole near the top corner (side opposite the fold) for the string to go in.
- Tie the string in the hole for the tail (Tasha's
into braiding right now, so we used 6 strings and braided the tail).
- Now glue the pompom or bead on the nose & add reinforcement or
wiggly eyes.
- A little ways up the curve glue the 2 pink circles on for the ears -- one on each side of
the 'mouse'. I usually just glue about 1/2 of them on the construction paper & let the other 1/2 stick up from the body.
I hope my directions are clear -- these are cute & the kids always
like making them!!
