DLTK's Crafts for Kids
Muffin Flower Craft
These are simple and fun crafts for even the youngest children to do. The center of the flower can be further decorated with yellow sequins, small seeds or a photo. We used a black marker to dot on spots in the center for ours.
This page has the basic instructions for muffin flower crafts. Check out the following links for themed variations:

"I took the idea of making flowers with muffin liners and made a bit of a change. I took small pictures of my kids and placed them in each muffin liner. Then we glued the flowers onto a sheet of paper with a flower pot and wrote 'Grandma's Love makes us grow' on the pot. You could also use Mom's love makes us grow or whatever!!!"

Materials:
- a printer (or draw your own stem and leaves),
- glue,
- scissors,
- a piece of paper ,
- Two muffin cups (the paper cups you make muffins or cupcakes in),
- Something the color with (paint, crayons, markers, etc).
Instructions:
- Colour the two muffin cups various colours (they will be the flower
head).
- You might want to make the centers yellow and the outsides a rainbow of flower colours... be creative!
- This step should be first, especially if using paint, so it has a chance to dry while you're doing the other steps.
- Set aside to dry.
- Print out the template of choice.
- If you are using a black and white printer, you can print the template on green construction paper.
- Cut out the template pieces and colour if necessary.
- Glue the leaves and the stem onto a piece of white paper.
- Glue the two muffin cups onto the top of the stem (one on top of
the other) to form the flower.
- Flatten out the bottom cup a bit more than the top cup so you can see the petals.
- you can use more than two cups if you want... The more cups you use, the more petals your flower will have.
- You can decorate the paper further by colouring in grass, sky and
clouds. Alternatively, you can use balled up pieces of green tissue
paper as grass and cotton balls as clouds.
OR. You can decorate the paper further by drawing a flower pot under the flower.
- Try colouring the muffin cups with pastels, the stem and leaves
with regular crayons and the sky with water colour paints (different
mediums are always lots of fun for the kids). Or just put out
a variety of mediums and let your kids pick which to use.
Templates:
- Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.
- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP in most browsers).
